Ruth McDaniel a 10 year old girl in St Joseph Missouri was in a funeral scene when a medical student chased a pet kitten with a knife. The kitten leaped onto her lap but was killed, the girl then convulsed and lies in serious condition. The student and companions carried the body toward a dissecting room amid hysterical screams.

In South Bend Indiana Notre Dame geology professor reports a mastodon tusk unearthed in a West Baden ditch near Marshall City Indiana after systematic digging. Pendleton Council Proposes Main Street Sidewalk Upgrade
The Pendleton Common Council on October 18 1911 adopted a resolution to improve Main street from the north line of Main street bridge to the south line of Jackson street by constructing a concrete sidewalk along the east side where none exists. The City Surveyor prepared plans and specifications filed October 21 1911 and approved. An assessment district is created to apportion costs among benefited parcels, with owners liable pro rata. A copy of the resolution and the surveyor's cost estimate will be published for ten days in East Oregonian, designated by the Council.
