Chicago reports a heated grain pit opening with wheat surging as traders bet on a true shortage. United States exporters claiming all spare wheat sold boosts buying while December and May futures show notable gains alongside corn and other commodities.
An exhibit by the Oregon Child Welfare Commission will run all day tomorrow and Wednesday in the library auditorium, organized by Pendleton Parent-Teacher Association. It features multiple instructional screens on topics from a state hospital for crippled children to the deaf, blind, and feeble-minded institutions, with programs by parent teacher groups and staff explaining the displays. A register will record attendance for a report to the state commission.

A retrial decision was not yet announced.
Roosevelt toured Albuquerque with ranchmen and crowdders as escort. Ten thousand gathered as hecklers cheered for Wilson while Roosevelt taunted them about the Lusitania murder and attacked War Secretary Baker. He spoke at the Alvarado hotel and criticized Wilson's Mexican policy.
