The couple, united amid sickness, left for Portland still ill but joyfully married, a first in that hospital.
Samuel Moree, owner of the Indianapolis Sentinel and former consul to Paris, died after falling from his private office window on the third floor of the Sentinel building. He suffered stomach trouble and had grown despondent. the blow to his head crushed his skull. Passersby narrowly escaped injury as he fell.
The court found HW W Knox guilty of using a foul hook to catch salmon in the Umatilla river. He received a $50 fine with suspended sentence on good behavior, and the judge warned officers will enforce the fish laws strictly henceforth.
