In a midnight to dawn raid, forty suspected revolutionaries were seized, eighteen additional detainees held, and army trucks carried away printed propaganda. A secret list of 7000 Reds was captured by intelligence, with the operation linked to Army intelligence HQ and a unit formed for the raid.
Auditors examined the books of MH. E. Bickers clerk of school district No. 14 Pendleton Sled Uelr report Monday finding the accounts in perfect shape. Winter and HK. M. Indianapolis Oct 15 Four hundred thousand coal miners were ordered to strike November 1 in a call issued today by Acting President Lewis of the United Mine Workers. The action affects nearly all bituminous miners in the United States as ungranted wage demands are cited. Union leaders say more than half a million may join, with some fields containing workers not yet fully organized.

Washington Oct 15 President Wilson is better. A bulletin from his physicians today said he had a good night, shows improvement after a slight headache, and that the condition causing retinitis on Monday night gave no further trouble during the night.
Reports from London describe heavy German bombardment on Riga with fires. A Soviet assault saw a Bolshevik counterattack near Reval as Russian forces claimed advances, while British destroyers captured six German ships. Orel, a major railway hub, fell with 9000 prisoners and 20 cannons.
The day school of St Josephs Academy closed indefinitely due to sickness among pupils. The action followed advice from Dr HM Kavanaugh and the city health officer. About 38 pupils attend the day school while 202 boarding pupils remain in session.
A huge potato weighing 2 to 4 pounds and resembling six tubers has been grown by former Councilman Frank B King at his Riverelde suburban home. It is on display at the Morrison real estate office on Eat Court. The largest section likely weighs about two pounds and the display is described as a major attraction.
N Huteeee today received his commission as head member of the State Highway Commission and sent it to the Secretary of State. Mr Burgess will sit as a member of the commission November 4. He is a former state senator and a Livestock Bonitary Hoard member, a prominent stockman and banker in Eastern Oregon.

Project cost about 104000 with up to 25000 acres irrigable though early in the development only one third. Crop prospects improve after recent snow melt and rain as seeding advances and 1000 acres of fall grain is sown. The Montana ranch aims to grow alfalfa and feed is scarce in the state. Numerous suits to recover harvesting pay have been filed in circuit court.
Arnold Le Roy Templin, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Templin, died last night. Born August 25, 1619, the child’s funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at the Folsom chapel with Rev. RF E. Gornall of the Methodist church officiating.
