Swamp Land Decision Confirmed on Willamette Region
The interior secretary upheld a land grant denial in a swampy Willamette area in Oregon Lake County. The state contended the land in section thirty, township twenty three south, range thirty one east was swamp overflowed but evidence showed summer snowmelt caused flooding, making the land valuable rather than useless. The document notes an appeal by the state. The update also mentions the Pacific Coast Blood Horse Association fall meeting set for November 10 in San Francisco and Mollie Johnson’s return from the Granite Creek mines.
