Proprietor Missing From City Details Royal Cafe Disappearance
George E. Metter owner of the Royal Cafe is absent from Walla Walla city, his whereabouts unknown. The restaurant is secured by contract with David Kayeer Company and cash and safe have been attached by former head waiter Edward Miller for unpaid wages. A barber, HL Wagner, recalls Metter as a gentlemanly man who once spoke of Nome as a possible destination for disposing of the business. A placard on the cafe front door offered food to the hungry, hinting at a possible foul play investigation.
