Infection set in days after the accident. Doctors say he has about an even chance, with amputation ruled out as too risky. The infection is the only remaining hope to draw out.
A solution to the school crowding has the younger students moved from Washington and Hawthorne to be transported by auto truck. Superintendent Sanders announced that to relieve congestion the old Field School will not reopen. Until the Star street bridge is finished, the board will haul the primary grades to and from the School. All students from the final to fifth grade will gather at Field School by 8:50 each morning for rides. the new plan starts tomorrow.
President Wilson at the White House said he believes the public will be satisfied with the administration currency bill and that he is receiving many letters of approval from small bankers.

Indignant Japanese citizens gathered outside the Tokyo foreign office denouncing the government over the Japan China dispute. A delegated official entered the building to interview officials while crowds heckled from the gates. Protests followed the murder of Japanese in China by brigands.
Albany Oct 6 The prosecution in the Sulzer impeachment trial seeks to reopen to call Allen A Ryan D V McGlenn and two others. The defense objects and Chief Justice Cullen allows argument. Allen Ryan testifies Sulzer asked him to visit Washington to sway Senator Foot to oppose impeachment legality. Justice Quillen orders the remark stricken. McGlenn testifies that Sulzer received $10 000 from Thomas F Ryan.
Washington October 6 Representative Oscar W Underwood majority leader in the house announced his candidacy for the U S senate from Alabama to succeed the late Joseph F Totino He plans to enter the Democratic primaries in Alabama next spring with Henry D Clayton Raymond Pearson Hobson and possibly James Thomas Heflin among potential rivals The move signals a key party contest for the Alabama seat.
Police identified the murdered woman found on the prairie near Afross as 36 year old Ida Leegson an art student. Authorities say a man named Wilson offered her a nurse position which she accepted and investigators believe the offer was part of the motive.
Burr Harris, a Los Angeles Negro, is in custody on suspicion of murdering Mrs. Gay of Los Angeles. A piece of cas pipe found in his yard is cited as strong evidence. Detectives reportedly believe he was hired by unknown persons for the crime.
