The O R and N announces a new passenger train starting Sunday from this city to Portland. It will depart at 8 o'clock each morning and arrive in Portland at 4 10 p m daily. The service follows a thorough investigation by the General Passenger Agent's department.
New Pendleton Portland service to begin next Sunday with daily 7 15 p m departure from Portland and 4 10 p m arrival Pendleton. Train will depart Pendleton at 4 p m arriving in Portland 6 15 p m with stops at all stations and connections to branch trains.
Portland officials report the O R N will run a new daily passenger train between Pendleton and Portland to ease local traffic. The service starts Sunday October 6 with a 7 15 AM departure from Portland and 6 15 PM arrival at Portland, replacing the Biggs run and stopping at Hoppner Junction and The Dalles for lunch.
The Triannual Protestant Episcopal convention opened in Richmond Virginia with a sermon by Rev. A F Ingram the bishop of London. The three week meeting marks the 80th anniversary of the church's establishment in America.
Rededication services for the new Baptist church at Centralia Washington were held. The building is expected to cost over seven thousand dollars.

New York October 2 Attorney General Jackson asked the supreme court for permission to sue the Western Union and Postal Telegraph companies in the people's name to vacate their charters and end their operation in New York. He claims the firms conspired to fix message rates within the state.
