Menico Kidnaps American Citizens in Calexico

Sam Diego dispatch reports Toba Amador Isabel Fierro both Americans and nine Mexicana were kidnapped Saturday by Mexican secret service agents on American soil at Calexico. A man brought up from Uma- Ulli is jailed on a charge of maliciously burning ties owned by the railroad company. A hearing before Justice of the Peace Joe H. Parkes is expected probably tomorrow.

Till of Grocery Tapped Last Night

Thief broke into C Rohrman's Oregon bakery and grocery on East Court Street by breaking a window and rifling the cash register. Only $1.45 in nickels found, plus a lone five-cent piece. proprietor found robbery this morning, no suspect identified. Proceeds suggest possible theft of additional groceries and baked goods.

Indians Selected to Go to Washington

Six Redmen from Umatilla Reservation will attend a Washington gathering to form a North American Indians Brotherhood. Delegates include Amapine and No Shirt, Amos Pond, Charley Van Pelt, Joe Craig, and Captain Sompkin. They depart Spokane tomorrow afternoon after a consultation with Harvey Phipps.

The French steamer Santa Anna, sailing from Naples November 14 with 147 cabin and 2 steerage passengers, endured a fierce storm nine days out. Four crew members were swept overboard and died, others injured, leaving the vessel nearly helpless until it reached New York harbor on November 28.

J S Andrews a pioneer blacksmith and wheelwright of John Day declares he has devised a resilient steel wheel for autos wagons and other vehicles. He says it is the best of its sort and hopes for general use and a fortune if successful. He formerly worked at Walla Walla but favors interior towns for quieter life.

Spokane Suburb Devastated by Major Fire

Spokane Wash Nov 28 Nearly a block of the Mount Scott district was burned this morning destroying several frame stores and ten residences with losses around 50000. The blaze began in a grocery store and residents fought it with buckets until city equipment arrived two hours later. Fifteen families, mostly workmen, were left homeless.

Paris report states Baron Gustave Rothschild aged eighty three, chief of the Rothschild banking house and Austrian consul general at Paris, died here today. He headed the French branch of the banking concern.

Wreck at Wapato Injures Eleven on N P Express
