Wash. & Columbia River railway upgrades line
Walla Walla Nov 24 The Washington and Columbia River railway has completed major improvements costing about 100000. Over two years were spent replacing frame trestles with earth embankments between Walla Walla and the divide near the Touchet and Mil creek. Six miles of old trestles were rebuilt as solid fills moving half a million cubic yards of earth. A large trestle remains from the city to Dayton and work continues with a winter term to finish by spring improving the roadbed for heavy wheat freight.
