King Manuel of Portugal narrowly escapes mob attack

In Lisbon on November 25 King Manuel, riding in an open carriage in uniform as field marshal, was saved by his cavalry guard when armed republicans attacked. Foot soldiers charged the crowd, wounding many as arrests were made and the city remained greatly excited at night.

Amended complaint filed in Boise stock swindle case

A new complaint accuses N. W. Thompson of conspiring with Ferris, the Lambs, Sheldon, and Clemans in a large horse swindle involving Idaho stockmen. It seeks restoration of horses, repayment of $15,000 in commissions, and equitable relief, detailing fake sales, a pretended transaction, and a 20 percent Thompson commission. Idaho horse swindler released on bonds after jail stay

George Lamb, one of five Idaho stick men accused of an elaborate notes scheme defrauding leading Northwest horse dealers, was released on $1000 bonds after a brief jail stay on a larceny charge. District Attorney Phelps filed the charge and Judge Parkes set a hearing for a later date.

Steamer Infer Sardina Fire Claims 100 Lives

Isle of Malta November 25 The steamship Iner Sardina sailing from Liverpool to eastern ports caught fire outside the harbor. Two hundred aboard. passengers, mostly Greeks and many Britons, leaped into the water as flames and an explosion doomed the ship. At least one hundred are missing and the vessel was beached and practically destroyed.

Sensational Balloon Descent Lands in Arizona Desert

Captain A. G. Mueller and J. K. Hutchinson parachuted from a balloon after a 16,000 foot plunge near Ehrenberg Arizona. Their 250 mile six hour flight started in Los Angeles Monday, crossed the Colorado River, and ended in rugged desert where they endured hunger, cold, and exhaustion before reaching Ehrenberg.
