Telegrams report wheat declines across multiple bids today. Curacao sees December at 1.05 and May at 1.09 with drops. New York shows November 1.08 and May 1.124 while San Francisco notes irregular demand and dull trading.
Portiann reports a city meeting with Mayor De Lashmutt and Chinese merchants to curb smallpox. Officials seek two men from merchants to monitor homes and report cures. a new Chinese hospital under city oversight is proposed. later, Chinese agree to station two men at the chief’s headquarter to enforce measures. A second case notes two new fatalities and a crime incident involving a barber shop bundle.
A work train colliding with freight No. 23 at Mook Creek Station near Laramie Wyoming caused a fatal crash. An engineer and foreman died. ten to twelve laborers were hurt as trains were delayed about twelve hours and both locomines were demolished. In Montana a boiler explosion at the Horton and Montana Copper Company’s Moderville plant killed four engineers and injured three others.
