Athena Oregon reports a vigorous building surge with activity continuing. Since January 1 an estimated two hundred? thirty five thousand dollars has been expended to date, fueling numerous new projects and renovations across the town.

On Main street two brick business blocks cost 8000 with pressed brick fronts and stone basements owned by Lester Swageert and Mrs J H Stal. A new Christian church at 8000 is under construction. David B. Taylor spent about 80 improving his warehouse. Boddy built a new rest market, Botkin a barn for 200. Residences completed include Mrs Davenports 700, Mrs Bookner 1440, Draper 1000, Mrs Green Espen 600, Duncan McIntyre 1000, George Gross 1400. Additions include Allen 225, Eva Boddy 140, A L Jones 800, Charles Brown 800, Muirhead Shen Oak & N Companies move depot to Main street 400. Shiek’s improvement 480, Fidher Flop CG, Barrette & Co 200. Jacobs addition 400. Estimated other improvements total at least 1304.
