Salem Ore November 14 Donald Hansel was hanged at 8 97 oclock at the state penitentiary for the murder of Judge Frank Taylor of Astoria. He collapsed on reaching the death chamber after guards carried him to the gallows platform. He had earlier attempted suicide with a wrist-cutting act but survived. He killed Judge Taylor at a railroad station on September 14 claiming Taylor drew divorce papers for his wife.

A man using the name W. B. Walker of San Francisco killed himself at a cheap Seattle hotel. Police believe he was an Army funds embezzler, telling a woman companion he stole government money to have a good time before suicide. The woman, Wil Certrade Lenn, said they traveled from Portland via San Francisco and Seattle after meeting November 1. The presiding quartermaster sergeant Willis F Corp was being sought as a deserter after embezzling 170 from civil employees at the Presidio. Corp left the reservation on October 32.
