The men will likely return to work Monday. Operators grant an eight hour day and miners agree not to return to eight hours if southern field miners fail to accept eight hours.
Reports from Salem say Governor Chamberlain will back down on demanding pledges for tax legislation and will convene no extra session if halfway satisfied. Meanwhile Pittsburg builders strike affects carpenters and masons, with thousands of unloaders attacking ash morning and construction slowed. Multnomah County reports $91,000 in delinquent taxes for 1902.
