A week of nocturnal prowler activity on the north side of the river has left families alarmed. Homes including E Hogue and G W Coutts report windows opened and autos looted, with residents sleeping with revolvers or shotguns ready. A pursuer followed the prowler but he escaped after a block chase.
Lawton Oklahoma conference leader Bishop Wyn Chappell told the assembly that no preacher with two or three wives will receive appointments in the African Methodist Episcopal church. He stated the church will not tolerate polygamy and that a man should have one wife to be considered for work in the conference.

London reports a British cruiser sunk by a Turkish mine as Russia orders the warship Kostissia with two regiments to Constantinople. Plans for a joint occupation by allied powers are discussed to prevent a Bulgars’ advance. American cruisers Montana and Tennessee ordered to Turkish waters to protect interests.
In Gilisi Kan on November 11 Julius Wayland owner of Appeal to Reason shot himself after leaving a note in his home. The note in his handwriting explained his loneliness and the recent death of his wife. A grand jury convened at Farm Scott to consider charges against Frew Warren. Wayland was reportedly brooding over his wife’s death and feared indictment.
Mrs Pansy Hastings Wesh, who told police in Los Angeles she killed two Missouri women by poisoning, formerly lived in Jacksonville. Daughter of Hiran N Hastings who married Cor Luttrell, she was brought to town at age two and has not been seen since age six. The Luttrell family learned of her distressing case after reading the prior Sunday story. the family remains well known locally.
Washington November 11 The new administration foresees abolition of the commerce court and a shift in the Interstate Commerce Commission. The commission currently includes four Republicans and three Democrats. The terms of Feek Clark and Prouty expire December 17 and seven years’ service ends then. Taft plans no Republican successor.
The local post office outlines key Parcels Post regulations effective January 1, 1919. Distinctive parcel post stamps replace ordinary stamps, parcels will mailable only at designated post offices and stations, and all parcels must bear the sender's return card to be accepted.
Seattle readers report that Hay will not concede the race for Lister until the official canvass on December 4. Unofficial returns show Lister with a substantial plurality.
Walla Walla Wash Nov 11 Two workers Swan Nordstrom of Spokane and Alli Anderson were buried when a timber tunnel cave in at Borbick Water and Power company works at Burbank Sand and rock crushed them smothering both men Andersons brother N at tunnel mouth could not reach them and frantically sought help for hours before reporting the accident.
Atlantic City reports state that pitcher Marquard was sought by two detectives over an affidavit by Joseph Kane of New York. Kane charged he and detectives encountered Marquard and Kane’s wife, a stage actress, in a hotel where Mrs Kane fled via a rear exit with hotel staff aiding. The incident involves a Valdeville sketch in which Marquard appeared.
Washington in November reports President Wilson intends to appoint Charles Crane ambassador to the United Kingdom and Rudolph Spreckles of San Francisco to France or Germany.
