Practically Unanimous Favors Municipal Gas Plant Ownership
Arguments for municipal ownership of the gas plant emphasize cheaper local power. Milton's city owned electric light plant charges $1 per month for 14 candle power, while the city with a large new plant asks $1.50 for 16 candle power, a 76 percent higher rate. The city’s profits from the electric plant and municipal water system could cover expenses, supporting the ownership plan.
