First Corn Crib in Grand Ronde Reported
S470 and cest $3300. He 4 a fine onloal, having taken first prizes in the laire at Salem, Walla Walle and Pendleton, Mr. Wattenburger will leave for his home. Mr. Ruby will dispose of a number of Percherons and Shires in this county during the fall, a number of stockmen having signified their intention to engage in the fine horse business extensively, owing to the sharp demand for good horses every where. First Corn Crib in Grand Ronde. Last week the Chronicle had a report of the first alfalfa seed to be threshed out in this valley, and now comes the report of the building of the fret corn crib in Grand Ronde, says the La Grande Chronicle. George Pierce, a farmer of the Lower Cove, hie 15 acres of corn and hele building a crib in which to house the crop. It ’4 said the corn will run about 35 bushels to the acre, which would not be classed as a failure even on a Kan- San bottom, and is exceptionally good for this country. The extent of the crop and the crib are both novelties -especially the crib-as there are a large portion of eastern Oregon people who would hardly know how to give such a contrivance a name if they were to so one.
