Kensington Pa Nov 2 Alate troopers are rounding up suspects in Connorth where there is word of bombings. Five homes of steel workers were damaged. Ten foreigners were arrested. No one was injured.
Secretary of the Interior Lane says at the ext cabins meeting he will advocate a government appointed commission to handle the coal strike and the industrial situation. He views the Brotherhood proposal as endorsement of the President’s offer to miners to submit their demands to a commission. The cabinet may be advised to name such a commission once the coal strike is declared ended.
One or more special Pullman cars may run from Pendleton to Eugene for the Oregon football game. The train would depart Pendleton Friday night and reach Eugene the next morning, with a return possible on demand. La Grande alumni may join Pendleton, and a large crowd from surrounding counties is anticipated for the anniversary event.
Ernest Crockett of Mondinton, a University of Oregon student, has been elected to the university chapter of Sigma Theta Patton, a national literary fraternity. He previously served overseas with Canadian forces and was wounded in action. Crockett is also a member of Alpha Tau One, a men's fraternity.
The auto repair shop at 4200 Cottonwood Street changes from Miller and Dement to Perkine and Dement. C A Perkins, with auto repair experience, buys W D Miller and P H Miller interest and partners with William Bement. P H Miller recently left for Aurora. W L Miller joined James Beck in the deed corner business.
Four violators of the parking ordinance and one speeder paid a total of 14. The parking victims were: Fret Walker, Kori Breding RK, KR, Ferguson and Mitchell Phelps. The lone speeder was Clarence Tubbs.
A report from the Junior Red Cross chapter led by W. W. Green describes a display of coins from 19 nations and accompanying slides and pictures. The effort aims to foster international understanding and postwar goodwill, with chapters urged to keep and exhibit the collection and promote related activities and presentations.

A disputed proposal seeks to favor a tenant in timber land sales on the Timetilla reserve. Farmers funded by Indigenous leases press Senator McNary to alter bidding rules so tenants may meet the highest bid or hold a sale until a fair price is set. Names include McNary and officials such as Thomnpeson Knieht and others.
Hundreds of Pendleton residents attended the funeral for the late Dr G Hossington yesterday at the Methodist church. Rev EH Gorka officiated with Washington Commandery No 1 and Pendleton groups in attendance. Pall bearers included M Lewden and W Williams, with honorary pall bearers Smith Haynes Saxton Bailey Lorne. The service featured readings and hymns as the body was laid in the Pendleton mausoleum. Local visitors and relatives traveled from Portland and Pullman to attend.
A local note reports that the Ivanhoes returned yesterday to La Grande after spending the weekend with Mrs. Taira Nawh. The barely legible item notes travel from La Grande to hometown and mentions a brief visit with neighbors.

An educational film Life Aboard the U S New York showing at the Alta tomorrow evening depicts naval life aboard the dreadnaught and other ships with scenes from Howell and various regions. It is not an advertisement, per advance agent notes, and is accompanied by W T Corder who lectures during the presentation as part of a navy recruiting campaign endorsed by the Orpheum circuit.
Despite discourtesy from Old Sol film production continues in Pendleton for A Romance of Pendleton directed by Stelter with scenes shot on Sauvr fav Court and Main street. The East Oregonian notes crowd scenes and a wedding sequence at Christiano Church while promising a lengthy production with Pendleton’s Walter Steinar as motor, to be shown November 14 15 and 2 at the Arowdy theatre as a new addition to the program.
