Wagonload of dead geese delights Pendleton crowd
A trio of marksmen near Artinton with Winchester pumps killed 242 wild geese in two days. The birds, fat and fresh, filled a wagon to the gunwales and drew quick interest from local residents as the season’s first major kill. The geese were southern migrants, and the marksmen claimed strict impartiality in their hunt as crowds swarmed to buy the birds at six cents each.
