At Cincinnati May 31 stockholders of the Cleveland Cincinnati Chicago and St Louis Railway meet to act on directors' recommendation to raise capital by 11,200,000. Harry M. Adams, freight agent for O F and N at Portland, is appointed assistant traffic manager of the Great Northern with Seattle headquarters, succeeding J. Eden. A 38 year old veteran of multiple railroad posts, his career spans Seattle Portland Spokane and Vancouver districts. The position pays over $6000 annually and becomes effective June 1.
The Portland hog market held yesterday's gains with no receipts, while cattle were dull and sheep weak. The first car of yearling steers from the valley moved toward North Yakima feeding grounds in Washington. Prices show eastern Oregon items and stockers, with steer and cow values and lamb figures noted for the day.
