Flour for Australia ships via Portland and San Francisco
Nearly 17 000 barrels of flour are loaded at the Byers mill for Australia. Five thousand seven hundred and fifty barrels were shipped on the 4th instant, with 8000 plus barrels remaining to load. The flour goes to Portland then to San Francisco, transferred to a larger freighter bound for Australia. The Australian market is steadier than China’s, aided by a wheat crop failure in Australia and favorable damp season delaying shipments to China.
