Four Island City youths James Eleworth Clint Irwin Albert Wadel and Mr Mc Dougall returned home and spotted a thief fleeing with nearly 500 dollars from Island City Milling and other stores. They armed themselves with rifles and cornered the burglar as lightning flashed. He surrendered after discarding a money bag and was taken to county jail by the sheriff.
Two men traveling through Grand Junction Colorado report a night attack by a large wildcat after being hurled from a railroad velocipede. The machine collided with the cat in darkness, triggering a fierce struggle. The animal was killed with a log, and the men were seriously injured.
