Hermiston merchant captures burglar looting store
Hermiston Oregon May 17 Don Campbell a young merchant aided by a two foot monkey wrench captured a burglar attempting to loot the cash register at Hermiston Produce and Supply Co. Campbell chased the intruder into the back room and held him for an hour until help arrived. The suspect Edward Coleson claimed to be from Philadelphia and was bound over to the grand jury after a preliminary hearing. Earlier that evening a separate attempt to break into the J M Scarborough store occurred with a window smashed but no entry.

At the high school auditorium next Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock the Senior class day program will be given and the public is invited to attend. Oakland California May 17 H F Magill the newly appointed city clerk committed suicide today by leaping from the 14th story of the new city hall in full view of Capwell department store workers. The body plunged to the 13th floor and struck a crumpled heap as bystanders rushed to aid him. Every bone was broken and he died.
