Pendleton Bids For Sunday School Meet

The Oregon Sunday school convention was invited to hold the next session in Pendleton after a successful three day meeting in Portland last weekend. Seven Pendleton leaders and several from the east end attended. Rev and Mrs R L Burenbarger led the Christian church group along with F F Behrmidt and Miss Grace A Clinton from the Methodist church and Mrs W H BE McLain from the Presbyterian church. FE Draper, secretary of the county operation, also attended.

Aberdeen moonshine maker dies in brush with revenue agents

In the Aberdeen moonshine war five alleged bootleggers were arrested after federal agents clashed in a canyon. Choriea Watson was shot and died later in hospital as his car, riddled with bullets, was stopped by officers. The confrontation followed a spate of revenue raids in the area.

Okvar Van Oredall aged about 70 a Pendleton resident since 1809 died Saturday in Granite at his daughter's home Bertha Phanery. He had been in La Grande recently born in Obbe November 5 2550 later lived in Columbia Kansas before Pendleton in farming. He left a son May Vin Credall and a brother O Van Credall of Pendleton. Brundage Leases Hidaway Springs for Summer Season

H. E. Brundage, formerly with American Railway Express, has leased Hidaway Springs for the summer. He arranged the lease in the county last week and will return with his family to prepare the resort for opening in June. Major repairs will be made to the buildings with his son Harry assisting.
