Multnomah County coroner readies an inquest into yesterday's double train wreck death toll. officials blame motored errors for the fatal collision that killed ten. Authorities close the area as investigators examine wreckage and timeline details.
A head on crash of two Southern Pacific electric interurban trains near Dartha Station injures 38, with five in critical condition. Motorman Silas Willet blamed. survivors include Camille Nesch and Clarence Smith, both critically hurt and not expected to live. The Oregon Sunday school convention was invited to hold the next session in Pendleton after a successful three day meeting in Portland last weekend. Seven Pendleton leaders and several from the east end attended. Rev and Mrs R L Burenbarger led the Christian church group along with F F Behrmidt and Miss Grace A Clinton from the Methodist church and Mrs W H BE McLain from the Presbyterian church. FE Draper, secretary of the county operation, also attended.
A. G. Clark of the Associated Industries of Oregon requests a week from June 14 to 19 for Oregon made displays in Pendleton. He offers 76 in cash prizes for best windows with first prize 40, second 16, third 10, judged on artistic arrangement advertising value and educational value.
In the Aberdeen moonshine war five alleged bootleggers were arrested after federal agents clashed in a canyon. Choriea Watson was shot and died later in hospital as his car, riddled with bullets, was stopped by officers. The confrontation followed a spate of revenue raids in the area.
Pete DeYoung sold his share in the Empire Meat Market today to Burton Greulich and his father Charles Greulich, making the Greulich family sole owners. DeYoung had a two year involvement and may embark on an extended trip after two decades as a market employee.

Secretary Daniele testified before a Senate committee accusing Admiral Sims of failing to meet expectations on six counts. He charged Sims coveted British decorations, favored British views, and sought honorary membership in the British admiralty while belittling American achievements in the war.

Okvar Van Oredall aged about 70 a Pendleton resident since 1809 died Saturday in Granite at his daughter's home Bertha Phanery. He had been in La Grande recently born in Obbe November 5 2550 later lived in Columbia Kansas before Pendleton in farming. He left a son May Vin Credall and a brother O Van Credall of Pendleton. Funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. from the Throne chapel with Rev Rh M. Rientaeger of the Chrinting church officiating.
Washington May 10 Bainbridge Colby secretary of state is named by reports as the man Wilson has picked to carry the league fight for the Democratic presidential nomination. The White House may groom Colby for the nomination with McAdoo mentioned but not favored by friends who fear presidential endorsement.

United Press reports in Angeles on May 10 that Ride beard Watson received a life imprisonment sentence at San Quentin by Judge Villa for the murder of Nina Leo Delaney. Watson confessed to murdering seven wives and hints at others among his 26 marriages, with several missing and believed slain.
Chicago May 10 The Republican national committee selected Lafayette Gleason of New York as temporary secretary for the national convention. Senator Lodge continues to be mentioned for the temporary chairmanship with W. H. Hayes as another possible candidate.
H. E. Brundage, formerly with American Railway Express, has leased Hidaway Springs for the summer. He arranged the lease in the county last week and will return with his family to prepare the resort for opening in June. Major repairs will be made to the buildings with his son Harry assisting. Exact opening dates to be announced later.

Joseph Rogir, a native of Poland, died last night at the State Hospital at age 50. Funeral services were conducted today under the Catholic church, of which the deceased was a member, at the Polish chapel.
Hert Stewart, a longtime Pendleton resident and trustee of Pioneer Park, will move the remains of his brother and niece from the park to Pilot Rock for burial location and service plans.
