Mrs Maude Robinson testified before the state senate investigative committee that she signed an affidavit alleging immoral conduct by Lieutenant Governor O Hara, claiming she was told it would be kept private and used to silence him. She said she met O Hara on a train and denied improper relations, and that she signed at the urging of Samuel Davis of Davis Ensel and Company. The committee announced O Hara would testify and did not publish Robinson's affidavit.

Washington May 16 The state department has not confirmed reports that Provisional President Huerta repudiated American Ambassador Wilson in retaliation for the United States non recognition Braun said no report on the matter. A Huerta ally said he would be glad to deal with Wilson but Huerta lacks standing. Representative Hamilton of Michigan urged the state department to demand adequate protection for Americans in Mexico.

Baker Oregon May 10 With the arrest of Frank J Allen with 540 dollars worth of opium on his person it is probable that one of the largest smuggling swindles in the Northwest will be unearthed He was picked up by Officer Roh rt Nelson in Chinatown after he had attempted to dispose of the drug among the local Chinese colony He carried 27 cans of the drug There are very few Celestials In the city at present who use the sleep dope and those that are discovered are immediately arrested Allen it is said owns a ranch near Hermiston and is quite well known in that community Its thought that the gang maintains branches all over the entire Northwest as Allen carries a paper to the amount of 2000 on a La Grande bank at the time of his arrest.
