The industrial commission probes railroad rate discrimination. Jacksonville relief fund reaches 85000 plus trainloads of supplies. The Everett nail works close as trusts gain control of plants. London warns against buying American rail shares at inflated prices. Harvard wins intercollegiate golf on Northfield links defeating Yale. Princeton had previously held the trophy.
Reports from Salem describe house cleaning at the state capitol while in La Grande fifty men arrive to work in beet fields. Baker City plans a two story school, a piano factory, and a conservatory of music. Oregon City violence includes a shooting near Willamette, and a man in Prineville pleads to a killing. Multiple towns report crime and civic projects, including a Willamette chorus festival and new lecture society in La Grande.
