In Inverror May 10 a fierce contest pitted the citizens' ticket against prohibitionists for five council seats. Of ten candidates, one led with forty votes and five others tied, including two prohibitionists. The tinted ballot issue invalidated the prohibitionists, and the entire Elli sons ticket was declared elected. Prohibitionists condemn the ruling.
Ex Governor Perkins and officials inspect the Queen of the Pacific after she sank. They conclude the wreck resulted from water entering through a ten inch deadlight. They dispute claims the deathlight was opened by malicious actors to sabotage the vessel and blame Captain Alexander amid crew tensions.
Amany May 10 Amos H. Tyler of Bath shot Dr. Gilroy over alleged paternal ties to his daughter. Gilroy died. Tyler was arrested claiming Gilroy fathered his daughter's child. In Laguna a drowning occurred when Thomas Drury and his 8 year old son were swept away while sea hunting for smelt. the boy did not survive. Other items include a California murder case in Boca Can and a wife shooting incident in Los Asores, plus notes on a land grant bill and Miablan transients.
