Freewater Ranchers Act to Save Walla Walla Lands from Floods
Freewater residents along the Walla Walla river raise over $1000 for levee work to prevent future floods. About $5000 is needed for proper construction including clearing the river bottom for a mile and a quarter and building a high bank. Last Saturday Baker City Auction Company held its first sale in front of the Kelly implemet house at 1 40 pm. A large Baker City crowd watched W A Gossett auctioneer and company president guide rapid bidding on horses and livestock wagons buggies and second hand goods. The sale proved the venture is here to stay and will continue with weekly latex sales each Saturday, with next week expected to be even bigger.
