Mohler of the O R N could move to Union Pacific in Omaha, with E B Calvin of the Short Line becoming general manager of the combined road. Headquarters likely at Salt Lake City, while local offices remain in Portland.
In San Francisco Feb 2 1908 a letter requests twelve Trib treatments and notes druggists cannot fill orders while praising Trib. In Spokane March 26 the Lucile Dreyfus Mining Co faces two supreme court lines: appeal of Kennan injunction and a writ seeking to stop enforcement. Also Albert Martin the Grant murder convict seeks a new Portland trial.
Spokane dispatch reports uncertainty over Northern Pacific roadbeds west of Spokane raising officials’ unease. Engineers ordered to run carefully and not exceed schedule between Sprague and west end of Big Lake and between Marshall and Cheney. A telegraph station at Moana will stay open day and night. Gravel is being hauled from Mesa to strengthen the road bed with several gangs at work there.
The Northern Pacific and O R N set a joint stock cattle and stock sheep rate by large 36-foot cars from Huntington Oregon and intermediate points to Livingston Montana and Sterling North Dakota. Rates rise with distance, reaching 153.12 to Sterling, for trains of at least 10 cars billed via Butte. The National Livestock Association moves to acquire Jacol Cold packing plant, Kansas City, to form an independent packing operation with capacity for 62,000 cattle and 4,000 hogs daily.
Pendleton Ukiah Stage Line runs daily trips between Pendleton and Ukiah with a 7 a m departure from Pendleton arriving 6 p m in Ukiah and a 6 a m return leaving Ukiah arriving 6 p m Pendleton. Fares include Pendleton to Ukiah five dollars, to Alba two seventy five round trip sixty five, to Mido one dollar round trip three hundred eighty, to Nye one hundred, Pendleton to Pilot Rock one dollar round trip one dollar.
