May Increase Dues for Commercial Association Members
The Commercial association board proposes raising monthly dues to $2 to cover a $600 debt and fund gymnasium expenses. About 200 paying members exist, with 8500 in debt overall. A plan would bill gymnasium users an extra 50 cents to $1 monthly while keeping the $2 base, or charge higher dues to balance maintenance costs. The proposal will be voted at the next monthly meeting after a full report from Director Wilson.

No Baseball This Year in Pendleton Over Ground Fee
Pendleton may skip the baseball season after owner W F Matlock refused 15 dollars per game for grounds and sought one fourth of gate receipts. The baseball committee led by Carl Cooley Thomas Milarky and L G Freater wired New York with the offer and got a firm decline. Matlock calls the terms exorbitant and insists on a share of receipts last year. The committee has given up hopes for funding a team here and cancelled a meeting. Lawrence Lieuallen, hired for the squad, will join Athena Knapp in Walla Walla. Fans regret the outlook but support Matlock’s position and favor mowing the grounds if no season proceeds. If players are to be paid, better terms must be offered.
