The Harriman system authorizes the largest automatic electric block signal installation in U S railroad history. Julius Kruttschnitt is to start immediate work to install 5442 miles of signals on the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific lines between Omaha and San Francisco and between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
