Portland March 20 police searched the home of missing banker F N Meyers who faces a warrant for allegedly accepting deposits illegally for the Italian American bank where he was secretary Meyers also presided over Mount Scott bank closed by examiners and had been missing five days as authorities pursued leads in the Grande Ronde Valley and broader Oregon region.
Police Judge FitzGerald imposes brief jail sentences on several men in the city. Walter Malin receives five days for vagrancy, while Jack Welch Thomas Simons George Ward Chas Switzler and Sam Whitman each get three days for imbibing too much Soy water.
County fruit inspector J Campbell warns fruit growers and shade tree owners to spray immediately to combat the San Jose scale. He declares the spraying law will be enforced under threat of prosecution.
