A dated health note urges drinking a glass of hot water with lemon phosphate each morning to flush poisons from the stomach liver kidneys and bowels. It claims inside bathing improves skin and breath and promises renewed vitality and youth by cleansing the body.
Fragmentary OCR shows a notary public record citing Toledo and a firm named Cheney, with mentions of cures, notes, and a Toledo address. It references a December date and a completion or examination note, but details are unclear and partially illegible.
A scanned 1917 county report lists numerous expenses and claims approved by the County Court in March, including payments to Glen Tel Co Taxi, Pacific Power, store suppliers, janitors, doctors, and various rural poor farm costs. It records transfers, salaries, supplies, and services with numerous names, firms, and dollar amounts across departments and poor relief programs.
North Portland yards saw hog prices reach a new peak with top quality stock at 14.60 while overall hogs traded above recent levels. cattle values were steady to firm with prime beef steers and best cows commanding strong prices. No mutton market at North Portland due to limited supplies and only a few head arriving on guaranteed prices from Willamette valley sources.
Real estate notices show Warrants Drees and Culley transferring interests to Ralph Mar in for 4 dollars for portions of Sec 22 in township 6 north across lane 55 and Ralph Martin and Xavier to KHMM Huntington for 5 dollars in same section. Chas Lawler to Winnie Fix for 1 dollar transfers lot 21 block 61 Freewater and Hiatt to Winnie Fox for 1 dollar transfer jot 22 block 61 Freewater.
A Cincinnati authority promotes freesone drops as a remedy for corns. A quarter ounce, sold cheaply, is claimed to remove hard or soft corns and calluses from feet without inflaming surrounding skin. The advice targets women adjusting to high heels.
An old advertisement touts St Jacobs Oil as a harmless liniment to relieve rheumatic pain and joint stiffness. It claims immediate relief from soreness and stiffness and urges readers to try a small trial bottle from any drug store. It also notes benefits for sciatica, neuralgia, lumbago, and sprains.
