An exciting pursuit ends with Oneriff Taylor capturing armed fugitives while no trace of Floom Fury or Gould is found. The report notes the outlaws were only “slightly familiar” with the area, hindering their escape.
James Carter was captured after a pursuit in a near beer joint. reported as separated from accomplices lant and Simpkins who allegedly lacked nerve for desperate acts. Latter two prepared to fight as horses ran hard. sheriff three hours behind schedule, capture expected tonight.
Sheriff Taylor has captured Lao Lant and L. Simpkins, two armed escapees from the county jail. The arrest occurred near upper McKay creek around 2:30 PM with limited details. They are expected to arrive in Pendleton about 6 PM, leaving four of seven men retaken.
James Carter moves behind the bare while Sheriff Taylor and his email posse press toward Lent and Simpkins. Taylor overhauls the pair on rough terrain, horses are worn but the officers close in. Corinto Nicaragua March 16 George Cannon cousin of Leroy Cannon is held on charges of conspiring against President Madriz. Arrest made with knowledge of Admiral Kimball, commander of American naval forces. Cannon was secretary to General Chamorro of the revolutionary army.

Tokio report says the International Press Association meeting today rejected rumors of war with Japan. Journalists from American and European presses attended and unanimously passed a resolution stating there is nothing to indicate Japan has adopted a warlike attitude toward the United States.
Jefferson City Mo March 18 The Missouri supreme court sustained the constitutionality of the old stamp law requiring a 26 cent stamp on papers concerning every deal in the futures of grain provisions and cotton stocks.
In Watseka Illinois on March 16 Mrs J B Saylor a Crescent City banker’s wife on trial for murder of her husband fainted in court when told she faces gallows if convicted The prosecutor announced Ira Grounden would face charges in connection with the case Grunden said to be Saylor’s brother slept off a debauch and the prosecution argued his role was legally excusable.
Kansas City report of a ten round boxing bout at the Hippodrome ends in a draw. Hyland of San Francisco and Baldwin nicknamed the Bunker Hill bearcat fought a tame, evenly matched battle with Baldwin sustaining a cut over his left eye and Hyland unmarked. The fourth round featured Hyland reopening Baldwins cut as the best moment of the bout.
Washington March 15 The Solicitor General Powers filed the government brief in the corporation tax cases at the Supreme Court. Arguments on appeals from fifteen separate corporations begin after the Standard Oil hearing. The brief argues the tax is not a direct tax on property and denies it infringes state powers to form corporations.

Cul March 15 James Missoley taken to state penitentiary after he attempted to sell his fifteen year old daughter to a shepherd. He was convicted and sentenced to one year in the county jail. Later authorities found his children dependent on him and the sentence was changed to one year of work. The court will collect funds to hire children.
Kinsley Kansas March 15 Ward Payson Weston the pedestrian is 72 today. He marked the birthday by covering 72 miles yesterday and remains six days ahead of his NY bound schedule as he travels from Wisconsin to New York.
A March report from Ephrata claims a $120,000 fire that nearly destroyed the town was started by bank robbers attempting to cover their tracks. Authorities note large sums of tax money in the Davis Rosen bank drew attention, but the robbers fled before reaching their loot.
Addison Ohio March 15 A week after Frank Dague and Pearl Warner ran off to Kentucky to marry the couple’s eloping spree shook the town. Last night Mrs Dague killed herself following the alleged affair between her husband and her younger sister.
Bismarck North Dakota reports widespread Missouri river flooding with water overtopping streets in Mandan and a river steamer Expansion wrecked. No loss of life believed.
Washington March 14 Senator Chamberlain of Oregon introduced a bill to make it a misdemeanor in the District of Columbia and the territories to discriminate against persons wearing U S military uniforms. A similar bill was introduced in the house Saturday by Mr Hobson.

In Khartoum Colonel Roosevelt meets Major General Sir Randolph and other officials at the sidar palace after a private reunion with his wife and daughter. The party later returns to Gordon College area and enjoys a hunting tally including nine white rhino horns and three giant elands. He plans a busy period ahead as he resumes official duties.

The walkout could affect lines including Southern Pacific Oregon Short Line and Union Pacific with 47 railroads tied up for 150000 miles and 25 thousand firemen out of work. Efforts for federal mediation were requested from Chairman Knapp and Labor Commissioner Nell.
