Trials planned for early June in Oregon land fraud cases

Washington March 13 The cals against Senator Mitchell and Representatives Hermann and Williamson of Oregon for alleged public land frauds will be tried in Portland early in June District Attorney Heney who secured the indictments left for Oregon after conferring with the president Secretary Hitchcock and Attorney General Moody He expects new indictments of prominent coast figures Hitchcock vows convictions in pending cases and seeks firm action in these trials Also included are brief items on a Supreme Court peonage decision a nomination confirmation for Frank Hitchcock a pope bid a Missouri legislature adjournment a Minneapolis editor's death a Pacific squadron recall and a $4000 Benton bank burglary.

Scandinavian Club Session Draws Members and New Initiates

The Scandinavian club met at Hendricks hall Saturday evening with 60 members present. Six new members were initiated into the society as the program followed the business session including music by Miss Anderson and the chorus, readings by D L Johnson and J P Hedstrom, solos by Miss Lindberg and David Pearson, and a duet by Mrs Serell and Miss Lindberg. The event ended with dancing and refreshments.

Flume Project Underway West of Town

George Perry and Charles Pickard began constructing a new electric Merit plant flume west of town yesterday morning. County officials arranged workers and licenses for the project, with W. Insurance Swindhors Case in Chicago Court

In Chicago March 14 a suit was filed by FF. Butcher of Cleveland alleging that Chas Piper and William Flyde Archott officers of the Royal League Fraternal Insurance Society have unlawfully diverted more than $50,000 of the society's funds. They seek an injunction against the officers.
