Fruit Crop Threatened by Severe Frost in Valley

The Lewiston Tribune reports a clear sky and severe frost at night in the valley, the only notably bad weather in two weeks. No injury is believed to have occurred to the trees, but a potential record fruit crop for the northwest is hinted at if conditions hold. Protests against the Caddy Mountain forest reserve see Er. M. Barton circulating a petition to keep the area from being wet-side or reserved. Barton represents the sheepmen and opposes forestry action, though most ranchers favor the original petition to convert the area into a forest reserve. Public support for the adverse petition remains weak.
