First Government Irrigation Project in Wyoming

Washington March 7. The irrigation reclamation service allocates 2.25 million dollars for four large dam and irrigation works on the Shoshone River in northwestern Wyoming. The plan aims to reclaim up to 600,000 acres, using a 170‑foot dam to create a 3,300 acre storage lake with 12,000,000,000 cubic feet capacity and four miles of canals to deliver water to farms. The project, seen as a major interstate effort, will generate about 10,000 horsepower for pumping and irrigation, and faces engineering and land speculation issues rather than legal barriers.
