Need More Money for Lewis and Clark Exposition
Portland reports that Western states will provide less funding this year for the Lewis and Clark fair, delaying progress though more money may be secured later. Idaho has appropriated, Missouri and Nebraska adjourn by month’s end, with emissaries touring to secure support from multiple states and British Columbia for the 1905 exposition.

New Barber Examiners Appointments Planned
Governor Chamberlain is poised to appoint two new members to the state board of barber examiners in Portland. With H. M. Howard and F. D. Rogers nearing resignation, H. G. Merer remains as the sole existing member. J. C. Wells, backed by the Barbers Union, may join, and unions from Salem, Astoria, and Baker City will influence the second pick. The new law reverses the旧 board structure to place union men in the majority.
