Terrific snow storm turns to hard rain as rescue teams fear the death list will total 100. Bodies may never be recovered as debris and rising waters complicate search efforts. reports say a Pullman car might be located intact, speeding recoveries if accessible.
March 4 reports from Wellington Washington state say ten people rescued alive from the day coach last night are unfounded. Thirty Italian laborers sleeping in one coach before the avalanche are still missing and presumed dead, swelling the total to 1138. RR F Roberts jailed for robbing bodies. corpses to be hauled out with ropes if rescue succeeds.
A night of renewed snowturns heavy rain and increasing danger of slides near Scenic and Wellington Washington as rescue workers brace for more losses. The banquet drew New Yorks finest society and cost twenty five thousand dollars.
White Plains New York March 4 Mrs Ava Willing Astor was awarded a final decree of divorce from Colonel John Jacob Astor. The decree restores her maiden name and it is reported she will receive three hundred thousand dollars alimony.
Pendleton lodge B P C E unanimously elected Frank J. Quinlan as exalted ruler for the coming year at last night's annual election. He will lead the antlered herd, succeeding G W Phelps, with Mark Moorhouse as Leading Knight and other officers named. The group met at Eagle-Woodmen hall. the session marked the move to Elks hall on Court and Cottonwood streets once furniture arrives.
Chicago announces public subscription offers bonds totaling 22 million dollars for street railway reorganization. The five percent bonds issued by the city are tied to railway companies and will cover about four hundred miles of track control.

The editorial accuses Taft of dodging the issue citing his Lincoln Day speech denying a specific tariff reduction promise.
