Santa Fe President BE P. Ripley announced plans to issue 17.3 million dollars in 50 year 4 percent bonds, completing the 50 million authorized last year. Funds will finance California overland improvements, erosion reduction, cutoffs, and a second mainline track, with portions extended from Chicago. The bonds are secured by a mortgage on the company’s entire property, at 76,659 per mile, under a general mortgage of 4 percent, cheaper than Union Pacific and Central Pacific bonds per mile.
