Stanfield Town and Furnish Reservoir Plan for Umatilla County
A new town named Stanfield will rise at Foster station to serve the Furnish project. A 50 foot high reservoir 800 acres and costing $100,000 will be built five miles east of the Furnish ditch intake to store water, enabling year round irrigation and an 18 mile electric railroad to Hermiston. Promoters include R. N. Stanfield and Dr. H. W. Coe, with land purchased from local settlers and support from W. J. Firth.
