In Houston on June 23 notices ordered all negroes to leave Sabine county immediately or face consequences after a lynching of nine. Local blacks are warned, with messages like This is going to be a white man's country. Armed whites patrol the area, high excitement near Hemphill.
In Hemphill Sabine county nine Black men died at the hands of a mob after white men were killed by Black residents. Dozens armed, a lynching spree followed an attack on a jail, five men hanged at a tree, one shot at a home gate, with two more bodies found later. Authorities moved suspects to Beaumont under guard. Sabine county sits in remote eastern Texas with limited rail and telegraph access.
A hospital issued a brief statement on June 9 from Cleveland indicating the patient’s condition has improved. Details remaining scant, officials did not disclose the patient’s identity or diagnosis.
Sherman shows marked improvement and is considered unlikely to need surgery. Secretary H E B Devendorff said he is better and needs rest after weeks of heavy strain. Dr Carter expects Sherman to be out tomorrow morning unless complications arise.

Oyster Bay June 23 Roosevelt announces plan to take the family to New London Thursday.
King Alfonso receives the newborn prince in Madrid as ministers and officials witness the birth. Justice Minister Marquise Figuer rea presents the infant on a cushion and the birth is formally registered. The king pardons a condemned prisoner in celebration.

He was taken to a hospital this morning as his condition worsened from a bilious attack while returning from Cincinnati. The family was summoned and a surgeon was telegraphed from Baltimore for possible operation.
Utica New York June 24 telegraphic advice from Cleveland reports Shor Yain is ill prompting the family to leave on the first train and hurry to Cleveland by the fastest routes.
Cleveland June 23. Sherman is treated at Lakeside hospital for gall stones with a temperature of 102. Doctors say pains began before the Chicago convention and continued during the session. Dr. T E Garter leads the case with Dr. Finney of Baltimore consulted by long distance. A telegram to the Sherman family notified of the serious condition. The convention strain and trip to Cincinnati aggravated the trouble.
New Haven June 23 Taft read United Press reports on Sherman illness as he entered a Yale alumni gathering. He expressed concern yet not surprise and hoped the danger would not be as great as reported.
New York reports via Paris cables the death of W. B. Leads former Rock Island Railroad president and American capitalist. Few details available. Leads estate is left in trust with no liquidation of interests. He left railroads two years ago after a paralytic stroke.
