Pendleton may lack opera this winter unless a local stock company forms to purchase and remodel the Frazer theater. Judge Murphy Dies Suddenly in Salem at 74
Salem dispatch reports Judge J J Murphy longtime clerk of the Oregon Supreme Court collapsed and died of heart disease on a street near the courthouse. A native of Ireland who came to the U S as a child he was active in Republican politics served in the legislature sheriff service and as U S Denial Inspector before clerking the supreme court from 1891. He was 74 and survived by his wife Mrs Stephen Church and son Chester G Murphy.
