Water Struck at Agency Plains Well Near Madras
Water has been struck in a well drilled on W. F. Magill’s Agency plain ranch ten miles north of Madras Crook county. The stream rises 50 feet in the 420 foot depth with the first flow warm. Drillers hope an artesian flow may develop after casing as drilling continues through soft soapstone and clay toward a hard bottom. Water scarcity had strained families who hauled water over several miles weekly, making today’s discovery a cause for local rejoicing amid optimism for irrigation and household needs.
