A posse led by Sheriff Quine of Roseburg hunted the suspects in the Yoncalla hills as of this morning.
Washington June 17 La Follette is a candidate for the Republican nomination for the presidency. His supporters claim he can secure about one third of the delegates and will fight Taft to the end. He may announce formally later.
State Wardens to visit Umatilla County for a trout banquet next week. W L Finley and R E Clan ton to be honored and to lecture. Fishermen will fish the streams all weekend, decide by Monday night on hatchery site near Gibbon for a nursery and habitat program.
Valley June 27 Fred Melville the dime novel bandit who held off a posse for two days near the city and was captured at Beneck made a full confession to District Attorney Joseph Raines. He recounted robberies from San Francisco to Sunternarding over three years and said he served a penitentiary sentence of one year. He is 20 years old.
Mrs. Harper wife of murdered Conductor Harper denies rumors involving letters found on Mrs. Kyle. She confirms Harper’s dying statement that he never left home and was truthful. The exchange on a Milton car trip sparks Kyle’s claimed vow of vengeance and jealousy linked to a past divorce and alleged mental instability.
Salt Lake June 17 Conductor Willi Kidd of the Oregon Short Line was killed and Deputy Sheriff Jones Tahoe was fatally wounded in a confrontation with two gunmen at Highbridge Idaho. The deputies attempted to subdue the robbers who opened fire taking two revolvers before escaping. A posse pursued from Pier 14.

The board last night canceled the remaining $5000 of six percent bonds, leaving four and a half percent bonds, totaling $10,000 canceled this year.
