Oregon Product Show Brings Pendleton Displays Of Local Goods

Oregon produced goods from Pendleton fill store windows as part of Ciremon Producta Week. The Associated Industries of Oregon sponsors 75 in prizes for best displays of Oregon made items including baby foods, brooms, foot powder, phonographs, baskets and more. Judges will review all displays after setup is complete, with winners to be announced at Friday dinner hosted by Church of the Redeemer and featuring A G Clark of the Industries group.

Attle Market Weakens as Cattle and Hogs Slow

Portland June 14 cattle are weaker with steers around 19 and 11 dollars and hogs showing mixed prices. Beef and veal prices steady, lambs around 150, butter prices steady, and grain futures firm at about 37 cents.

Emergency Gasoline Supply From Weiser Expected On Tuesday

Gasoline shipments from Weiser Idaho are expected in Pendleton by Tuesday. About 4200 gallons will be distributed to all local stations owned by Reno jurisdiction members at cost. Arrival of a tank car from Maker and 82 empty drums headed to Welser should boost supply by Tuesday evening. The 39 to 40 cent per gallon price is anticipated.

Pendleton Lodge 248 Holds Public Flag Day Observance

Pendleton lodge No 248 B P O Elks holds a public Flag Day program this evening in the lodge room with a prop of exercises and music. Alfred Lockwood pastor of the Church of the Redeemer will deliver the address. Officers will conduct the ceremony and John M Delph will pay tribute to the flag. Several musical numbers are planned with Dr F A Listallen as committee chair.

In San Francisco June 14 a federal court heard testimony in the heavyweight champion Dempsey draft evasion case. Lieutenant Kennedy testified Dempsey showed anxiety about the number of men in uniform and discussed entering the service. Witnesses described an attempt to obtain a forged letter for $40,000 and other scheme details amid the trial.

Auto Thieves Captured Near San Jose Case

George Foster and Jack For were arrested in Pendleton after a high speed chase by Sheriff Tim Taylor and Deputy Jake Marin. They were found with a Maio touring car alleged stolen in San Jose California in May. Foster had previous jail time for armed weapon charges on March 26, 1918.
