Teel project approval uncertain amid mixed reports

Reports from Hermiston claim the Teel project was approved after a telephone briefing from J T Hinkle but Salem officials and the attorney general could not confirm. Deputy engineer says the board has not yet passed the project while Warren Construction Company awaits bond certification and a final board decision. Excavation Rushes for Thorn Hollow Water Link

Water engineers push rapid excavation to extend a pipe from the headworks of Ely Water to Thorn Hollow and on to Livery Springs. Army airman may stop here Sunday

Unofficial word that an Army airman known as a Miller on a Portland to Spokane route will stop in Pendleton Sunday was received today by George C. Baer, president of the Pendleton Commercial Association. Baer wired Portland to invite the airman and arrange entertainment if he accepts.

DAR Will Take Part In Flag Day Observance

Mondioten Dioaghte of the American Revolution will lead a ceremony with the flag at the Flag Day exercises Sunday at 2 PM in the KinG building. Loew D. Al Tete will appear to present a medien to the flag. Regent Mine AL Lawell and lodge members with families are invited. The Rev. J. Francis Morgan will deliver the address. Also on the program are tributes by Harold J. Warner and Dr. Moleman, with musical numbers and prayers. The event is set for Sunday to ensure full attendance.

Troop D veteran home today after Rhine service

Private H. Williamson of Troop D returned from Bendorf Germany after five months overseas with the American forces. He described German civilians as respectful and said locals were glad Americans won the war. Williamson noted troop movements near Hamm and Koblenz and recalled visiting hospitals and the Rhine frontier before arriving home. He mentioned his unit, the 216th artillery, and said he will remain in Pendleton.
