Can Canadian thistle be killed and how to kill it
Woodburn Oregon asks James Withycombe, director of the Oregon Agricultural College, about eradicating Canadian thistle. He advises smothering small patches with straw, cultivating large areas with hoed crops, cutting plants at first appearance to prevent leaf growth, and suggests options including a 20 percent iron sulfate spray or gasoline in bright sun, noting experiments are needed for the latter. A German man near Witten recovered from long deafness after a powerful blast.
