After a near knife confrontation on Main Street, Al Richardson and his wife Alice Richardson plus step-daughter Mrs Ernest Allen were fined ten dollars each in a Pole Street court for assault and battery. In Windsor England on June 10 Edward Albert the Prince of Wales received the heraldic order of the Knight of the Garter in a splendid coronation ceremony. Sponsors included the Duke of Connaught and Prince Arthur of Connaught, with King George knighting him. A poignant note marked the event as exiled Manuel of Portugal observed from the crowd.
Carrie Nation longtime temperance fighter dies in Leavenworth Kansas after months of worry over lawsuits against a lecture bureau and a lingering illness. Paresis listed as cause. Born in Kentucky in 1846, she vowed to eradicate the liquor trade after an early marriage to a drinker and a later remarriage to David Nation.
